Being a middle/high school student is already tough for some, especially with social media and everything offered to us today. Right now, Covid-19 has both our parents and us stuck at home. Those of us that can drive have no reason to leave the house because it’s agreeable that the grocery store is not exactly an amusement park.
When I look over the past month, it’s crazy to see where our world is today. As an American people, we are practically quarantined. A month ago, we were living ordinary lives. Toilet paper wasn’t something that had to be bought two weeks prior to use.
The concept of being forced to stay home for weeks sounds awful, but I promise you guys, being ‘quarantined’ is not as brutal as it sounds. We won’t go crazy and start talking to inanimate objects. I promise. In fact, this is a huge opportunity we may never have again.
During this time, I encourage every one of you to read the Bible and talk to God. Doors can be opened from this.
Matthew 7:7-12 reads, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (NKJV).
On top of building your spirit, this time can be used to get those next stepping stones in your life. As you spend time in God’s presence, ask Him to reveal what’s next for you, whether it be in His Word or a family member/ friend confirming something He told you.
Social distancing is recommended, but please understand that social
distancing does not include social media, texting, and phone calls. We can encourage those around us on personal levels, ranging from a general post on Instagram to a sincere text message to a best friend. Drawing near to our Father is important; He holds us always. I encourage you more than ever to envelope yourself in His grace, love, peace, and hope during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Lastly, I cannot stress enough the importance of praise and worship! God is good! He is worthy of our adoration! “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1, NIV).
I would like to close with a few words from Elevation Worship. “Here in the waiting I won’t worry about tomorrow No need to focus On the things I can’t control All of my attention On the wonder of this moment Jesus, your presence Is the comfort of my soul”
