During this season when we are being bombarded in the news with facts coming at us from left and right we need to remember to focus on the truth and begin to proclaim the truth even above the facts. When we speak truth in our lives it brings freedom and protection.
The truth is a vital part of the Armor of God from Ephesians 6 and in fact the very first part the Lord tells us to put on.
Ephesians 6:13-14 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth”
Just as this part of the armor protected the most sensitive parts of the physical body. The belt of truth protects the most sensitive part of our spiritual body as well. When we fail to be wrapped in truth we are susceptible and open to believe the deception of the enemy and then find ourselves bound up by those lies.
John 8: 32
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” The Bible doesn’t say just that the truth will set us free but that the truth that we know is what sets us free. This is a mandate to us to “know the truth”.
This is why it is imperative that we are diligent about putting the word of God into our hearts and begin to stand on the TRUTH of God’s Word and not get too caught up in the facts that are being thrown at us.
The facts state that right now there is a virus spreading through the world.
The truth states Psalm 91:1-4 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;”
And Isaiah 53:5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
The facts state that right now the world is in panic.
The truth states John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
The facts state that people are worried and fearful.
The truth states Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
The facts state that people are hoarding so maybe we should too.
The truth states Matthew 6:28-34 ““And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
The facts state that the stock market is crashing.
The truth states Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
When we begin to proclaim the truth even above the facts we can see where the truth brings freedom. Freedom from worry, fear, anxiety, sickness and more. But even more than that it brings freedom to peace, confidence, hope, healing and provision. Today walk in the truth that you know and stop worrying about the facts.
